Advanced Care Planning

Special Interest Groups meetings, Events and Conferences

Advance Care Planning is the process of planning for a person's future health and personal care.

Advance Care Planning helps ensure that an individual's preferences for future medical treatment are respected. Beliefs, values and preferences are made known, in order to guide future care in the event that the person is unable to make decisions or communicate.

The Advance Care Planning Special Interest Group (ACP SIG) is committed to achieving and promoting the professional, educational and economic interest of nurses and other relevant health workers engaged in the field of advance care planning.

ACP vision

A statewide nursing forum that promotes discourse and collaboration across academic and clinical fields interested in advance care planning through:

  • education
  • support
  • policy comment
  • networking.

ACP mission

To provide a forum for discussion for Victorian nurses working in advance care planning settings by:

  • continuing professional development to members through workshops and seminars
  • furthering knowledge and research in advance care planning to achieve excellence in practice
  • promoting the application of advance care planning into relevant health sectors.
