EVENT DETAILS
Date: Friday 11 August 2023
Format: Live event
Location: Carson Conference Centre, 535 Elizabeth St Melbourne
The design of health and aged care facilities impacts the health and safety of staff and patients. Nurses, midwives and carers know this better than anyone. Those who work in facilities – or will be working in proposed facilities – can provide the best feedback on what currently works and if a proposed design is likely to work or not.
Safe design involves early identification of hazards and risks. The design process must involve those who will work in the area so changes or solutions can be implemented to eliminate or minimise health and safety risks. Safety should not be an afterthought in the design or building process. It is more effective to design a safe facility rather than trying to make adjustments to a finished building.
There are also legal obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety legislation to ensure a building is safe and fit for purpose. Employers have an important duty to consult with health and safety representatives (HSRs) and employees when changing the work environment during a renovation or new build.
This conference will provide information to nurses, midwives and carers who may be involved or are interested in designs, plans or consultations for proposed facilities. We’ll also explore factors to build into designs to improve health and safety.
The Safety in Workplace Design Conference attracts up to six hours CPD required by the NMBA for registration renewal.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to join other nurses, midwives and carers to expand your knowledge on how safe workplaces are designed.
Event agenda released soon.
Please note: due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, changes may take place to the format of the conference. ANMF may be required to alter or change conference plans at short notice – which could mean either a reduced or limited physical conference, or a digital conference – depending on Government advice leading up to your conference. Registration options may alter based on any changes, with options communicated directly to registered attendees.
