2023 OHS Conference

Occupational Health and Safety Conference

Friday 24 March 2023

The Occupational Health and Safety Conference returns in person in 2023!

2023 conference agenda available now.

Occupational Health & Safety issues have the potential to impact employees, patients and employers.

The overlap of the healthcare environment as a workplace can place potentially conflicting priorities and work demands on nurses, midwives and carers. Prioritising patient safety over staff safety (or vice versa) should not need to occur if appropriate systems are in place to ensure the safety of everyone.

The Occupational Health & Safety Conference is a full-day event presented by the ANMF (Vic Branch) on Friday 24 March 2023.

The conference is aimed at all levels of nursing, midwifery and carers.

Featured presenters:

  • Dr Tony Carden, Principal Ergonomist, WorkSafe Victoria providing insights on factors driving manual handling and mental injury in healthcare.
  • Stephen Morley, Safe Manual Handling Coordinator, Bendigo Health offering manual handling solutions for deceased bariatric and obese patients including the latest guidelines.
  • Sara Jorgensen and Sally Collier-Clarke, HSRs at Bendigo Health, Clayton Larkin, Group Lead at WorkSafe Victoria and Mark Carter, Health Safety & Wellbeing Manager at Thomas Embling Hospital on consultation and the OHS issue resolution process in healthcare.
  • Brian Jackson, Director of Nursing, Royal Melbourne Hospital on a best practice approach to the application of restrictive interventions promoting safety for staff and consumers.

The Occupational Health and Safety Conference attracts up to 6 hours of CPD required by the NMBA for registration renewal.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to join other nurses, midwives and carers and connect at this vital OHS event.

Please note: due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, changes may take place to the format of the conference. ANMF may be required to alter or change conference plans at short notice – which could mean either a reduced or limited physical conference, or a digital conference – depending on Government advice leading up to your conference. Registration options may alter based on any changes, with options communicated directly to registered attendees.
