Psychological hazards at work have an impact on the mental and or emotional well-being of workers, which are impacted by organisational factors.  Outcomes of exposure to psychological hazards include but are not limited to stress, fatigue (physical and emotional), and other psychological and physical symptoms.

The nature of the work and healthcare environment can place unique pressure on the psychological health of those in the workplace, with risks including:

•    heavy workload (including overtime) that impacts work-life balance

•    fast-paced work

•    prolonged and repeated exposure to trauma

•    exposure to occupational violence and aggression

•    entrenched bullying or harassment within the workplace

•    organisational culture, where caring for others is prioritised above caring for the carers

•    poor communication or lack of appropriate work support systems 

The ANMF (Vic Branch), Psychological Hazards in Healthcare Conference, is a full day event held at the Carson Conference on Friday 6 August 2021.    

The conference is aimed at all levels of nursing, midwifery, carers and other health professionals, the Psychological Hazards in Healthcare Conferences attracts six hours CPD required for registration renewal.

The purpose of the conference is to explore these important issues from different approaches. While we will discuss prevention and strategies for dealing with these issues please note that individual grievances related to workplaces cannot be resolved at this conference.

Refund policy:

By registering for this conference, you are agreeing to the ANMF (Vic Branch) refund policy:

(a) 10% administrative fee levied on all participants who cancel

(b) 14 days or more notification - full refund (i.e. 90%)

(c) seven days or more notification - 70% refund

(d) less than seven days notification - 25% refund



Yes, the conference is catered. Please ensure you list your dietary requirement/s on your registration form so we can endeavour as much as reasonably practicable to cater for the requirement.

Public transport:

Melbourne Central railway station is a short walk or tram ride to 535 Elizabeth street, Melbourne VIC 3000. Tram Routes 19, 57 and 59 travels along Elizabeth Street and the trams all stop outside Queen Victoria Market.


There is two hour paid street parking located on Elizabeth street and at the rear of the venue on O’Connell street. Additional secure paid all-day parking located can be at the Queen Victoria Market, the car park is open seven days a week between 5am-7pm and is accessible via Franklin or Queen Streets.

The Queen Victoria Market car park rates on the day of the forum are as follows: 

6am to 9am - Free

First 2 Hours - $6.00

Each Additional Hour - $4.00

6+ Hours Daily Maximum - $34.00

Lost Ticket - $34.00

After Hours Exit Fee (excluding parking fees) - $30.00
