Vote against federal funding cuts to health

If you don't care, we can't care

Nurses and midwives’ hands are tied. With $57 billion in health cuts it’s becoming harder for them to provide the level of expert care their patients need.

Without appropriate funding its clear nurses and midwives cannot do their job. With a federal election set for 2 July the time has come to stand together as one to put a stop to these cuts once and for all.

This election, we are asking the Coalition, the Labor Party and the Greens to commit to four key funding and policy announcements in health and aged care. And we are asking for you to help us to get their support.

Participate in this campaign by emailing your party leaders.

Because, if you don’t care, we can’t care.

Will you help us make aged care a priority for all political parties and candidates this election?

$57 billion in cuts to health care

If this huge figure proposed by the government is carved from our health system the damage to patient care will be devastating. Tell the party leaders to reinstate the budget cuts.

Aged care patient ratio

With often only one Registered Nurse for up to 100 aged care residents, it’s impossible to provide the level of care that our elderly relatives deserve. Tell the party leaders to fix aged care by requiring at least one registered nurse on site in nursing homes.

Cuts to nurses’ and midwives’ penalty rates

Nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing depend on overtime pay and penalty rates to earn a fair wage and to compensate for the unsociable hours they work, it’s only fair. Tell the party leaders to keep penalty rates.

Medicare funding freeze

The 2015 federal budget will freeze Medicare rebates for GPs forcing them to pass on increased costs to patients. A further $650 million funding cut will force increased costs for x-rays and other diagnostic tests. All parties must confirm their support for our universal healthcare system and stand up for Medicare. Tell the party leaders to support Medicare.

Would you like to do more? We need nurse and midwife volunteers to stand up this election and inform the public about what's been happening over the last two years. Email us if you can help us distribute health materials this federal election.
