The ANMF (Vic Branch) has been supporting their members completing post-registration or postgraduate nursing and midwifery education since 2018. In that time, we have provided approximately $7 million in financial assistance to thousands of our members undertaking study to improve direct clinical care.
Grants will be available for study completed in 2026 and successful applicants will receive up to $5000 per year.
Applications open 9am Monday 23 November and close 11.59pm Sunday 13 December 2026.
Eligible courses must incorporate a clinical placement component in the following areas of practice:
NOTE: Online only courses and direct entry courses into nursing and midwifery will not be considered under Fee Grant funding (please refer to our other Scholarships for all direct entry courses into nursing and midwifery).

We anticipate applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Friday 5 February 2027, with payment of the grant expected to be around late-February.
Can I apply for other nursing/midwifery courses that aren’t in the listed areas of practice? No. For this round of fee grants we will only consider courses from the listed areas and only those that incorporate a clinical placement. Fee grants are for post-registration and postgraduate studies only.
How many times can I apply for a fee grant? If you meet the eligibility criteria then you may apply for a fee grant. It will be factored into decision making where there have been previous grants received, to allow for broad access across the membership.
Will government scholarships and other scholarships be taken into consideration when applying? Yes. You must declare other funding and provide documentary evidence of this.
Can I apply for travel and accommodation costs associated with study? No.
Can I still apply if I’ve not been an ANMF (Vic Branch) member for two years? No. However you may be considered if you have evidence that you’ve been an interstate ANMF member or a member of an overseas ANMF equivalent (i.e. a nursing/midwifery union).
Will I be required to provide evidence of unit/course completion? Yes, you will need to submit your transcript or record of results on application. This evidence must relate to study completed in 2026 only.

The grant assists applicants to undertake nursing or midwifery studies, including undergraduate education or bridging programs that lead to registration with the NMBA.
This grant was established following a request to assist a young Sudanese refugee enrolled in a Victorian undergraduate nursing program. Further investigation revealed a number of refugees in Australia, who were also nurses, and required assistance to practice.
ANMF (Vic Branch) believes it is important to support nurses and midwives who are refugees from other countries and to assist them to continue to practice in Victoria and to have the means to earn a living for themselves and their families.
ANMF Humanitarian Grant applicants must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must demonstrate they meet the above criteria in the online application form.
Applicants may be interviewed as part of the application process.
